Two-factor authentication adds a second step to sign-in. It is strongly recommended for owners, admins, finance users, and anyone with access to payments, billing, user management, or data export.
Enable two-factor authentication
Open Account settings > Security
Find Two-Factor Authentication.
Choose Enable
SmartGig shows a QR code and manual key.
Scan with an authenticator app
Use an app such as Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or another TOTP app.
Enter the 6-digit code
This confirms that your app is working.
Store recovery codes
Save the recovery codes somewhere safe. Each code can be used once if you lose access to the authenticator app.
Manage recovery codes
- View recovery codes from the Security tab.
- Regenerate recovery codes if you think old ones are no longer safe.
- Store them outside SmartGig so you can access them if your login device is unavailable.
Good rollout approach
- Enable two-factor authentication for owners and admins first.
- Make sure recovery codes are stored before logging out.
- Use team management tools rather than sharing recovery codes between colleagues.
If a team member loses both their authenticator app and recovery codes, an authorised team manager may need to reset their two-factor authentication. Confirm the request carefully.
